When she was 16 years old, the Chinese Emperor declared that one man from each family must enlist in the Imperial Army to protect their country from Hull invasion. Mulan heard the call, but she knew that her weak father could not handle the burden of military duty, so she made a decision that would change her life forever.
Mulan decided to take her father's place in the Imperial Army. She disguised herself as a man and joined the Imperial Army. For twelve years, Mulan fought bravely and honorably as a soldier in the Imperial Army. She soon earned the respect and admiration of her peers for her courage and skill on the battlefield.
